Workshop Outputs
- Workshop organized for seven countries. Twenty four participants, three from each country, (Egypt, Sudan, Jordan, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Emirates and Morocco) in addition to three more from Egypt as a host country will be trained and motivated on Digital Libraries for Management and dissemination of Agricultural knowledge for Development (January 2006).
- Follow-up activities and Framework of action formulated following a participatory approach in discussion for the establishment of “Electronic Agricultural Knowledge Resources Arab Network” initiative and implemented by the Recipient Organization (January 2006).
- Training material prepared, reviewed, customized and packaged as appropriate by professional staff from the Recipient Organization specialized in information management and submitted to participants during the workshop and updated for implementation in future similar workshops. FAO will receive updated course materials in hard copy and digital form.
- WAICENT's information management tools (Digitalization and Digital Libraries Module of IMARK) disseminated in member countries and collaborating organizations in the Near East .
- Strategic partnership developed and collaboration strengthened with regional organization such as the Recipient Organization (AOAD) to Support to national capacities in agricultural information management in the Near East .
- Workshop Follow-up Activities and Framework for Action: Follow-up Activities and Framework for actions to establish “Electronic Agricultural Knowledge Resources Arab Network – EAKRA-NET” in addition to the human capacity building programme required for the proposed network sustainability are formulated and approved by all participants following discussion in a one-day Roundtable meeting at the last day of the workshop.
- Workshop Evaluation, Suggestions and Recommendations: At the end of the course the participants should be asked to make an evaluation and make suggestions and recommendations to improve similar courses held in the future. There should also be follow-up with the participants to learn about the advantages, benefits or problems encountered in using the tools.
- Workshop Certificate of Attendance: At the end of the workshop, a certificate of attendance will be given to each individual participant attended the training workshop and acquired the knowledge required to achieve the objectives of training workshop.
- The UTF project document with network feasibility study formulated for the development of “Electronic Agricultural Knowledge Resources Arab Network – EAKRA-NET” to submit it to potential donor such as EU and SIDA (January – April 2006).
- Digital Library Network Web-Based Information System “Electronic Agricultural Knowledge Resources Arab Network – EAKRA-NET” Prototype for Online dissemination for RNE and AOAD publications (January – April 2006).
- The appropriate Network Dedicated Application Server and Hosting Facilities managed through AOAD for Online dissemination for all above publications (RNE and AOAD in-kind contribution) for member states (Feb – October 2006).
